The Word FM Program Schedule (Evie Dean):
|
Evie Dean
-
Birthday: September 4
-
Family Status: Married with five children: Jeremiah, Janna, Joshua, Jordan and Jonathan. I have now added: Jeremiah's wife, Kate; Janna's husband, Jim and am very pleased to have a precious little grandson: Nathan James. I LOVE being a Grammy!
-
Testimony: I was saved in VBS the summer I turned ten years old, and in spite of being an active member of my local church youth group as a teen, I went through a tumultuous identity crisis. My favorite time of the day was 11:00 PM (after my bedtime!) . . . nightly in the dark I listened intently to a soft-spoken man on the radio who told me how very special I was to. God and that He loved me just the way I was. Because of the words and music of that nightly broadcast of "Night Sounds" with Bill Pierce, I not only came to know God's love in a personal way, but I asked the Lord for an opportunity to encourage at least one other person during my lifetime through a ministry like that . . . the rest is history!

Bible Verse(s): Jeremiah 29:11 -- "I know the plans I have for you . . . plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
-
Artist(s): Glad, Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, Steven Curtis Chapman, BeBe & CeCe Winans and Avalon (of course)!
-
Book(s): "It's My Turn" by Ruth Bell Graham. Mrs. Billy Graham so honestly recounts the trials, tribulations and "hair-raising" adventures as a parent without a partner who was trying to raise five children while struggling to find her personal place in this world as a woman in the spotlight. I've read it numerous times . . . it always makes me laugh out loud, and cry too, because I can relate SO closely to her experiences.
-
Food(s): Steamed shrimp with wild rice and lots of fresh ground pepper!
-
Ice Cream Flavor: Reese's Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup
-
Lazy Sunday Afternoon Activity: Watching football or baseball games . . . are there any other options?
-
70's / 80's TV Show: Mary Tyler Moore
-
Pizza (can include brand and / or favorite toppings): Papa John's mushroom and onion w/ garlic butter sauce and extra cheese (Oh . . . now I'm hungry)!
-
Vacation Spot: Cape May, N.J.
-
Movie of All Time: "Somewhere in Time" and "The Goodbye Girl"

First Christian Album (you remember buying): (I'm really going to date myself with this one) . . . Andre Crouch and the Disciples!
-
First Job: Pulling vinyl records for the DJ at a local radio station, WRBS FM in Baltimore, MD. (Hey . . . this really dates me, too)!
-
Your Dream In-studio Guest: Amy Grant
-
Pet Peeves: People who drive slow in the fast lane! Opening the refrigerator door to get a drink of water, only to find a cold EMPTY pitcher that was NOT refilled by the last person who used it!
-
Your "Day Job": Radio Announcer
-
If You Were Stranded On A Desert Island (what 3 CD's would you like to have): Glad: Acappela Project; Anything from Michael W. Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman
-
Worst Fear: Having the hiccups during a newscast, or worse, waking up with laryngitis!
-
I Hope Heaven Includes: Beautiful gardens and my best friend!
-
Dumbest Thing You Believed As A Child: N/A
-
How People Can pray For You: Strength, wisdom and discernment to raise my children; Divine direction as I seek a full-time radio position; REST . . . I never seem to get enough while juggling three part-time jobs and parenting!
-
Most Embarrassing Radio Experience: Oh, there are SO many! I had carefully stacked about fifteen carts for my next hour of music, but when I grabbed the top cart the entire stack came crashing LOUDLY to the floor and continued to bounce around the studio for what seemed like an eternity . . . while I was on the air of course! Well, then there was the time I was called to fill-in news for a local morning show . . . not a problem, except that for the first newscast at 5:30 AM the printer paper got jammed! When I finally got my newscast printed on another printer in the front office, I checked my watch . . . I had thirty seconds to spare! Pleased with myself, I RAN all the way down the hall to the studio at the opposite end of the building! . . . grabbed my headphones, gasped, "WHEW", rather loudly while the studio door slammed behind me! It was then I realized the morning man had ALREADY introduced me, played the news "stinger" and turned ON my mic! My watch was "off" by fourty-five seconds!
-
Anything Else of Interest: I love gardening and stenciling, and I have to mention the other "babies" in my family: (five cats) Clyde, Chloe, Duncan, Dylan and Octavius; (two dachshunds) Sebastian and Sparky; and a very old beautiful blue & red beta fish named Pierre!
